Blake Shelton throws shade at other award shows that are “losing credibility” after winning Collaborative Video of the Year with girlfriend, Gwen Stefani.

Last night an excited, yet stunned Blake Shelton and boo Gwen Stefani won Collaborative Video of the Year for their song “Nobody But You” at the CMT Awards. In his acceptance speech, Shelton has some choice words that may have ruffled a few feathers in the world of award shows.

He starts off strong with, “This is unbelievable. When I saw- I told Gwen that when I saw who the other nominees were in our category literally, it was like, ‘well, that would have been cool, but I don’t know how our chances of beating Justin Bieber are’ but here we are!”

Things take a quick turn when he starts throwing out ‘thank you’s’ to people.

“First of all, thank you to the fans… and I really do believe that these awards shows are beginning to lose credibility over the last few years and fan-voted awards, to me, are really the only stand-up awards shows left in our industry it feels like sometimes. Because you guys are the ones that buy the records, you come to the shows, and you vote on these things.”

Stefani looks on with shock as her jaw drops when Shelton slides that little bomb in there on live television.

The couple decided to toast their win with martinis conveniently waiting for them.

One of Many Trophies for Shelton

The line was a pretty bold statement considering he has won numerous awards at shows like the CMAs and ACMs. Earlier this year, he won an ACM award for his single ‘God’s Country’ and a CMA last year for the same song. Blake, however, isn’t hurting for awards in his trophy case with 106 win and 116 nominations at award shows.

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you awards, Blake. They might turn around and bite back.
