On Monday night, country music star Blake Shelton jokingly said it’s “pathetic” how much he loves his pop star fiancée Gwen Stefani.
The country singer posted on his official Twitter account to celebrate Stefani’s new single “Let Me Reintroduce Myself.” The brand new song just hit streaming services on Monday. He posted a screenshot with Stefani’s single circled at the top of an Apple Music chart sitting at No. 1.
Additionally, Shelton couldn’t help but gush over his fiancée. However, he of course did so with some of his trademark humor fans often catch a glimpse of on The Voice.
“I can’t express how happy I am for you @gwenstefani… I love you so much it’s pathetic… congratulations!!!” Shelton tweeted.
Stefani’s Newest Single Is a Throwback to Her Earlier Career
“Let Me Reintroduce Myself” takes Stefani back to her early music career by utilizing her ska and reggae roots. The song pulls from elements of her original band, No Doubt, and her later solo career.
Her newest song is her first official solo single in five years. The last time she released another solo single, it came off her 2015 album This Is What The Truth Feels Like.
Stefani recorded “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” while in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. With plenty of time on her hands, she got back to work on new music in 2020. The new single is co-written by songwriter Ross Golan and up-and-coming writer and producer Luke Niccoli.
Shelton and Stefani’s Recent Engagement
Blake Shelton announced the couples’ engagement earlier this year in late October. In a social media post, the country singer shared a picture of the couple kissing as Stefani showed off her engagement ring. Shelton joked that he “heard a YES!” from Stefani confirming the proposal.
Before asking his fellow The Voice judge for her hand in marriage, Shelton asked Stefani’s three kids for their help. Stefani has three children with ex-husband and rocker Gavin Rossdale. Supposedly, Kingston (14), Zuma (12), and Apollo (6) are very close to Shelton. And the country musician made sure to involve them “every step of the way” while planning to propose to their mother.
“Blake is very close to Gwen’s boys,” a close source told Entertainment Tonight. “They talked it through and Blake made sure they were part of the excitement! Blake had a custom-made engagement ring. He knows the designer and has used them in the past to make bracelets for Gwen.”
Shelton also spoke to another important person in Stefani’s life before his proposal. He made sure to seek the approval of Stefani’s father before asking the pop singer to marry him.
“Blake’s plan to propose to Gwen began by asking her father for her hand in marriage. Gwen is very traditional so he truly felt that asking her father for approval was the proper thing to do. And her father adores Blake,” the source explained. “Gwen has been ready to tie the knot for a long time and Blake knew this was the perfect time.”
