Carly Pearce is giving her opinion on Chris Stapleton’s new music, and it’s not a word that’s used typically used to describe his songs.
We usually err on the side of bluegrass, southern rock, soulful, even sad, and filled with emotion. But Pearce took to her Instagram stories to share her thoughts on one of Stapleton’s tracks.
The story features a screen capture of a music player playing “You Should Probably Leave,” by Chris Stapleton. Pearce writes on the screen, “Also like, one of the sexiest songs I’ve ever heard…”
Perhaps this song is a little more on the sexier side. It depicts that two people are together and it’s getting later in the evening. But if one of them doesn’t leave, they know where it’s going to lead.
“I know it ain’t all that late, But you should probably leave, I recognize that look in your eyes,” the first verse reads.
Then as we get into the chorus, it seems like history’s waiting to report itself. “Cause I know you and you know me, And we both know where this is gonna lead, You want me to say that I want you to stay, So you should probably leave, Yeah, you should probably leave.”
Carly Pearce Shares People Magazine Cover
It seems like Pearce could be feeling a certain way about Stapleton’s song because she’s going through a breakup. The 30-year old is divorcing her husband, Michael Ray, after just 8 months of marriage.
She told People magazine that this marriage wasn’t something that she took lightly. She was in it forever, but at times she felt like she was “going to die.”
“There were moments I seriously did not know if I could breathe,” Pearce admits. “It was awful. It is awful. But I think that what’s been awesome has been trusting myself and trusting what I have always known, which is God won’t take me through something that he won’t bring me out of or bring good from.”
Pearce shares the magazine cover on her social media channels and is actually excited about it.
The caption reads, “What a year it’s been. Thank you @people for letting me share my truth. I hope it inspires anyone struggling that there’s hope coming in the perfect time. My story feature will be in the magazine on newsstands everywhere tomorrow. 🤍🙏🏻”
Amid her divorce and losing her long-time mentor and friend, Busbee, Pearce says that she’s finally getting to make the music she’s been wanting to all along. As a matter of fact, at the 2020 CMA Awards, Pearce received nominations for four awards, winning one of them.
