Carrie Underwood Confesses to ‘Sneaking Out’ of House To Feed Stray Dogs

In honor of Mother’s Day this year, Carrie Underwood admitted that she has hidden a thing or two from her mom over the years.

It turns out that even country music megastar Carrie Underwood has secrets. Taste of Country uploaded a recent video of some of the biggest names in country music, including Carrie Underwood, admitting some hilarious confessions. And while some of the confessions were worse than others, Underwood’s were about as innocent as they come.

The “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer says that she would sneak out of the house as a youngster to go feed stray dogs in the neighborhood.

“I would actually steal like hot dogs, pieces of bread, and, like, lunch meat and stuff,” Underwood recalls. “Stuff that I didn’t think they would notice. And I would sneak out in the middle of the night to go feed stray dogs.”

And although she had good intentions, she knew deep down it was wrong to not tell her mom.

“It’s sweet and wrong,” she laughed.

While she says she never quite got attached enough to give one of the stray dogs a name, she did have plans for one of them.

“I did lead one down the road to some people who I thought would like it,” she explained. “And I, like, threw hot dogs in their yard and ran away. And the dog stayed there and they took the dog in.”

Talk about a happy ending!

Carrie Underwood Has a History of Loving Dogs

Hearing Carrie Underwood speak about how much she loves animals is definitely a cuteness overload. It turns out her desire to help dogs has stayed with her for her whole life. In fact, the former American Idol winner rescued an abandoned Labrador back in 2012.

The country star pulled over in the middle of the road after seeing two pups hurt. However, only one was alive, and so she rushed her to the emergency vet as quickly as possible. The vet told Underwood that it’s likely the poor puppy had been thrown from a moving vehicle.

Carrie Underwood took in the dog, naming her Stella. However, with a new album on the way at the time and two dogs of her own, she was looking for a home for the newly rescued dog. It turns out that her neighbor was able to give Stella a warm and loving home.

Meanwhile, in 2014, we were treated with one of the best possible photo combinations — a picture of Carrie Underwood and shelter puppies. Underwood spent some time volunteering at her local animal shelter and made sure to give a lot of pets to the puppies there.

“One is trying to kiss me while one is trying to rip my scarf off! #ShelterDogs #Volunteering” she posted back in 2014.

In the eyes of Carrie Underwood, she would choose animals over singing any day.

“If you told me I could never sing again, I’d say that was horrible. But it’s not my life,” Underwood said. “If you told me I could never be around animals again, I would just die.”
