Carrie Underwood Congratulates Friend Brett James on Induction into Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame

On Tuesday night, country superstar Carrie Underwood celebrated her friend Brett James who was recently inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. She shared a heartfelt post today after attending the event last night.

The Music City Center’s Grand Ballroom welcomed the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame yesterday. They organization welcomed ten new members during their annual gala. However, because of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, the event did not take place. Therefore the 2020 and 2021 class of Hall of Fame songwriters were both inducted last night.

The class of 2020 includes Brett James, Kent Blazy, Spooner Oldham, Steve Earle, and Bobbie Gentry. Additionally, Rhett Akins, Buddy Cannon, John Scott Sherrill, Toby Keith, and Amy Grant made up the class of 2021.

“Congrats to my friend @brettjamessongs on being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame! We’ve spent a lot of time together and written a lot of songs together. And not only are you an incredible songwriter, but you are also an all-around great person. I can think of no one more deserving! Thank you for allowing us to celebrate you! #HillaryLindsey @gordiesampson #JesusTakeTheWheel,” Carrie Underwood captioned her Instagram post.

James and every other songwriter missed out on last year’s event. So he’s happy to finally be able to celebrate with his friends and peers within the country music community.

“My favorite part of being a songwriter is being part of this community,” James explained. “This is one of the first nights we’ve gotten back together. So I think it will be really special, and really exciting.”
