Country music icon Carrie Underwood is flashing her Tennessee “I VOTED” sticker after casting her ballot on 2020’s Election Day.
In what will likely become the most voted-upon election in modern American history, stars are stepping up to the plate to vote themselves – and encourage their fans to do the same. One such star is country icon Carrie Underwood.
Posting to her Instagram stories today, Underwood is sharing a selfie of herself after voting in her native Tennessee. The Franklin, TN resident voted within her town just outside of Nashville. She is not, however, trying to influence her follower’s decision. As a result, she’s rocking a simple and comfy, politically neutral yellow sweater. Her makeup is on point, as well, with the gorgeous singer looking stage-ready right after voting.
Underwood’s Volunteer State Shows Record Voting Numbers
This Tennessee star, however, isn’t alone in becoming involved. Carrie Underwood’s home state is showing record voting numbers – and shattering previous election ceilings.
According to local TN NBC affiliate WCYB, “More than 2.3 million Tennesseans have already cast their ballot. That’s 51-percent of registered voters. In Sullivan County alone, about 55,000 people have already voted.”
“Six Tennessee Counties saw early voting totals surpass total vote totals from the 2016 election: Cheatham, Davidson, Loudon, Rutherford, Williamson, and Wilson. Each county had more than 60% of eligible voters already show up to the polls.”
Carrie Underwood More Involved Than Most Stars
Underwood has proven much more active within the current cultural and political climate than most stars, as well. In addition to urging her fans to vote on Election Day, she’s recently auctioned off pieces of her ACM Awards ensemble. Working in tandem with the awards show, the proceed from the auction went straight to benefiting COVID-19 responders in Nashville.
“Who wouldn’t want pieces of @carrieunderwood‘s iconic ensemble?! Her dresses from this year’s #ACMawards could be yours! They’re up for grabs in @ChristiesInc‘s “Nashville: An Auction To Benefit ACM Lifting Lives COVID-19 Response Fund.”ACM Awards
