Carrie Underwood is iconic for a lot of reasons, but we at Outsider admire her for her love of fishing and the outdoors alongside her stellar music career and dedication to a healthy lifestyle. However, the songstress is unintentionally facing controversy after her latest fishing trip – and no, it’s not that she was freshwater fishing in a bikini.
As many country artists do, Underwood clearly likes to spend some of her free time fishing out on the lake and catching some sun in between. However, animal rights supporters took to reaming Underwood after her latest fishing haul in the comments on her Instagram post. Some called her cruel and directly stated she should be setting a better example. Others blatantly wrote that they lost all respect for the country megastar.
On the other hand, additional commenters stated they took issue with the trip due to its catch-and-release nature, which the artist clearly specified. This, in a way, stands in stark contrast to the way animal rights activists advocate for other animals. In essence, they’d rather the country artist keep them and cook them. Nevertheless, Underwood has chosen not to engage and we applaud her for her patience and respect for her self-worth.
Carrie Underwood and Husband Mike Fisher are an Avid Fisher-Couple
In a previous Outsider article, we got a little insight into Underwood’s sweet and bubbly personality. And if you’re itching to check it out, feel free to click here. Despite the negative commentary populating her post about her fishing trip adventure, Underwood was proud to show off her haul. She further specified that she and her husband only participate on a catch-and-release basis. Underwood fans complimented her hard-earned abs and adorable zebra-print bikini in addition to the fish she reeled in. All of which, by the way, progressively got larger the more she reeled in. Why doesn’t it work like that for us regular Outsiders?
Nevertheless, in one of the photos, we catch a glimpse of Underwood’s husband. Mike Fisher, father of two alongside Underwood, is also an avid fisherman. In a previous social media post, Fisher shared that he and his wife love to fly fish together. However, he did admit that he doesn’t like how Carrie typically gets bigger catches than he does. Alas, to be outfished by the country megastar.
In addition to bass fishing and fly fishing, the former NHL player recently shared a video of how “noodlin’,” or hillbilly hand fishing, is done. We can’t imagine Underwood herself jamming her hand under a log and waiting for a catfish nibble. But it seems Fisher has a unique take on catfishing. Perhaps the mom of two should give this one a shot to avoid further criticism from the animal activist community. After all, there’s no hook in handfishing.
