Carrie Underwood is getting her very own light show on one of the most iconic buildings in the world. Underwood is about to light up the New York City skyline.

All About the Light Show

The 2020 Holiday Light Show on New York City’s Empire State Building will feature the queen of pop country herself.

“Giving you the gift of some early holiday cheer with the reveal of our 2020 Holiday Light Show partner: @carrieunderwood,” the city wrote in a social media post. The building also shared an image of a red and green-lit Empire State Building.
“This year’s lights with @iHeartRadio will sync to her song Hallelujah with @johnlegend, from her first-ever Christmas album #MyGift.” The show will begin on December 19 at 8 PM ET and play nightly through Christmas. You can listen along through Z100 New York or 106.7 Lite FM.

What Carrie Underwood Had to Say

Underwood sang Legend’s praises in a recent interview with Apple Music’s “Today’s Country Radio With Kelleigh Bannen” podcast.

“I was deep into making the album, and this one kind of came in,” she told Bannen. “He sent it to us kind of at the end.”

Although her album was almost completed, she knew that she needed to add this song and collaboration.

“It was like, ‘Well, I love the song. I feel like this is a puzzle piece I didn’t know was missing, but now that I’ve heard it, I have to have it,’” she explained.

Underwood says she then put the ball back in Legend’s court. “And so we just put the ask back, ‘Thank you for sending, do you want to sing a part with me, too?’”

“It was never brought up, like, ‘Hey, here’s the song if Carrie wants to sing it with me,'” she added. “It was like, ‘Here’s the song if you want it.’ I hope they were hoping I’d ask.”
