In response to the premiere of Carrie Underwood’s upcoming holiday special, the singer posted a hilarious photo of herself from the ’90s. In the Instagram post, the Grammy-winning artist posted a side-by-side photo of her younger self next to a recent picture.

Underwood is posing in an advertisement for a church Christmas event that she’s a part of in the older photo. In contrast, the other image is Underwood posing for her upcoming HBO Max special

In the caption, she jokingly wrote, How it started…How it’s going…been rockin’ the Christmas specials since the 90’s!”

The special will include holiday performances by Underwood that feature songs from her Christmas album, My Gift.

Carrie Underwood’s son & John Legend to Appear in HBO Special

In addition, Underwood has recruited help from her son Isaiah as well as R&B singer John Legend. Isaiah makes an appearance on Underwood’s studio version of “Little Drummer Boy.” He also makes an appearance on My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood special that includes behind-the-scenes footage of their recording.

Legend will join Underwood for a version of “Hallelujah,” the song they collaborated on for the album. A live choir and orchestra will join the singer and her band for the performances. Tom Hanks’ Playtone company is producing the special.

“The journey of writing and recording this album started last year when I finished my tour and we could have never anticipated the circumstances we would be in this year,” Underwood said in September when she released the album.

“Creating this album has been good for my heart, and I’m thrilled to get to share it with the world and to bring it to life with Playtone and HBO Max.”

My Gift is Underwood’s first full-length Christmas album. The album quickly received success when it became No. 1 on the “Billboard Country Albums” chart.

In addition to original material, Underwood features classic holiday tunes such as “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night.” Five-year-old Isaiah is Underwood and Mike Fisher’s oldest son. In early 2019, the couple welcomed their second son, Jacob.
