Carrie Underwood Raises Flag to Half-Staff For Families Grieving on 9/11 Anniversary

On Saturday, country singer Carrie Underwood shared a special tribute on her Instagram account to those who lost their lives during the September 11th attacks in 2001. 

Carrie Underwood announced in the post that the flag at her Oklahoma home is flying a little lower today. “I remember exactly where I was 20 years ago when a friend told me on my way to class what had happened.”

Underwood then stated that it was absolutely impossible to comprehend at the time the words her friend told her at the time. “To be honest, 20 years later, I still can’t comprehend it,” the country singer admitted. She also urged her followers to always remember that infamous day in U.S. history. 

“We must never forget September 11th and how it changed us as a country,” Underwood declared. “We must remember those that had their lives stolen that day and continue to pray for their families and who are still grieving.”

Underwood goes on to add that she will continue to be thankful for the first responders who were there to help and are still there to help those who were directly affected by the attacks. “God Bless America. #NeverForget.”

Carrie Underwood doesn’t shy away from her love for the U.S.A. The singer has performed various patriotic songs over the years, including her hit single Just a Dream.

The song, which made its debut in July 2008. It follows the story of an 18-year-old woman going to the church for her wedding day. However, as the song continues, it is revealed that she’s actually going to the church for the funeral of her husband, who was a soldier that was killed. Carrie Underwood repeatedly says “just a dream” as a hope that the woman will wake up and her husband won’t be killed.
