It’s Christmas in November for Carrie Underwood fans! The country megastar has just announced her brand new, all-original holiday song.
Is your tree already up? If it is, then today just got even better. The one and only Carrie Underwood is announcing her new, Amazon Original holiday song today. The title? Favorite Time of Year!
In addition, she’s blessing fans with a complete Christmas album, as well. The record, My Gift, will include covers of Christmas classics alongside Favorite as a bonus track.
While speaking exclusively to People Magazine, Underwood reveals what brought her to the song.
“Favorite Time of Year is just a happy, joyful Christmas song and is all about the fun aspects of the holiday,” Underwood says. “This is one that makes you smile when you hear it.”
“I started working on this album last fall and recorded it in the spring … so I’ve literally been living with Christmas music for a year now!” the icon adds. “I hope the album will be a soundtrack for people as they prepare for and celebrate Christmas. That would make me happy.”
Carrie Underwood Co-Writes Brand New Christmas Song
Underwood, however, isn’t just lending her golden pipes to her new holiday tune. She’s co-written the track alongside Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano. The sure-to-be-hit was produced in Nashville, as well. Within, she sings of holiday traditions – such as kissing under the mistletoe and hanging stockings. Color us red, gold, and green, already.
“We love decorating the house, and we always get the boys their own tree they can decorate any way they like,” Underwood says of her inspiration for writing the song. “And, of course, it’s all about music and food!”
But She Can’t Wait to Get Back to Fans
So what else has Underwood been up to, outside of writing Christmas music and doing awards shows all year? Turns out, COVID-19 has brought her family to the great outdoors.
“For most of the time since lockdown, we were able to spend a lot of time outside,” she says. “Which I think was a godsend for all of us. The boys and I did a lot of gardening together, which I love.”
For this generation’s Queen of Country Carrie Underwood, however, things just aren’t the same without interacting with her fans.
“I miss the fans so much!” she sighs. “We got to see so many of them out on tour last year, and it was such a magical year. To not know when we’ll have that back is a lot to take in, but hopefully we can be back out there again before too long.”
