Carrie Underwood Reveals She’s Ready to Record New Music Shortly After Dropping ‘My Savior’ Album

Not even a month after releasing her gospel album, My Savior, Carrie Underwood says she’s ready to get back in the recording studio.

It’s only April and Carrie Underwood has already released a new gospel album, My Savior, and helped raise $112,000 for Save The Children during her Easter Sunday live stream concert. But she doesn’t plan on stopping there. For her, the year is just getting started. During an interview, Underwood revealed that she’s feeling the creative “spark” again.

“I was kind of waiting to get that spark, you know? Like, when am I gonna feel like, ’Ah! Let’s do this!’” said Underwood. “I feel like last year was so unsure. Nobody knew where the world was headed. I was so blessed to have Christmas music to work on and then [My Savior] to work on. Like, we started working on My Savior before My Gift was even released.”

So, when can fans expect new music from Carrie Underwood? She said that she plans to get back in the studio, “once the dust settles” from her My Savior album.

“So, I am excited,” said Underwood. “So, at some point, once the dust settles from this very exciting project for me, we will start seeing what’s in the tank!”

Carrie Underwood Collaborate With Gospel Singer For Her My Savior Album

Speaking of creative sparks, Carrie Underwood teamed up with Grammy Award-winning and best-selling gospel singer CeCe Winans for a song on the My Savior album. The two collaborated on the song “Great Is thy Faithfulness.” During an interview, Underwood opened up about the mix of emotions she experienced while working with a powerhouse like Winans.

“I mean, I feel like she mops the floor with me, to be honest! But it was like, I’m gonna sing with her? It’s both exhilarating and exciting and terrifying,” said Underwood.

Underwood and Winans both added that the song brings people together during a year where there’s been a lot of separation.

“It’s a bridge in generations, it’s a bridge with culture,” said Winans. “Things that we have allowed to separate us, I think this song is bringing us together.”

Underwood said that there are all kinds of meanings people can take from the songs on the album. But she simply feels grateful for the way things aligned.

“I mean, I feel like I don’t try to overthink anything,” Underwood said. “When the stars align, and something feels right, you just go for it. You just do it.”
