Country music superstar Carrie Underwood took to social media on Sunday evening to wish all of the American Idol contestants good luck prior to the season premiere of the popular show.

With ABC’s American Idol back in the swing of things on Sunday night, Underwood took a moment to reminisce with her fans. She, of course, famously won Season 4 of American Idol back in 2005.

The country star shared a two-minute clip on Twitter that highlights her journey to superstardom. Along with the video, she wishes all of the contestants on this year’s show good luck.

“The tradition continues tonight with more stories being told and @AmericanIdol dreams coming true. Good luck to all of this season’s contestants!

It was definitely a flashback for Carrie Underwood fans as well. Fans in the comments were sharing their thoughts about Underwood’s journey from American Idol to multi-platinum star.

“Wow Carrie, can’t believe how time flies!” one user wrote. “You won and created records and history in country music so proud. 👏 Best of luck to others 👍”

Another fan sent a heartfelt reply to Underwood. Courtney Clarke (@CourtM21) wrote, “Well now you got me tearing up over here! I still remember watching your audition like it was yesterday. Forever grateful for that show and the path it led you down! 🥺❤️”

Carrie Underwood: From Oklahoma Girl to National Star

It’s hard to believe that it has been more than 15 years since Carrie Underwood won American Idol. It almost feels as if she’s always just been one of the biggest country stars on the planet. But the fact of the matter is that at one time, she was just an Oklahoma farm girl.

The above is perhaps best evidenced in Underwood’s throwback clip on Twitter, where she catches a fish while a contestant on the show. Afterward, the future star declares, “There are plenty of fish in the sea, and I caught this one, so, I hope I’m one that’s caught by the judges and I get to go to Hollywood.”

Meanwhile, the clip is narrated by American Idol show host Ryan Seacrest as Underwood’s hit song “So Small” plays in the background.

“That’s how the story started for this Oklahoma girl, and everyone knows it was only the beginning,” Seacrest says. “Now a household name, Carrie’s prolific career has made an indelible mark on the music industry. And it doesn’t stop there.”
