Jacksonville State University got treated to quite the event Friday night. Country music artist, Riley Green hosted a celebrity softball game. Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital as well as Jacksonville State athletics. Green had his celebrity team, aptly named Green’s Army, play Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Riley Green grew up in Jacksonville, Alabama. The event will give back to his hometown community in a meaningful way. For those in attendance, the celebrity team was quite the sight. Members of Green’s Army included NASCAR’s Chase Elliott, Morgan Wallen, and others. While this was Green’s event, his army couldn’t pull out the W.

On Saturday afternoon, with the loss in the rearview mirror Chase Elliott took to Twitter. He took the time to thank those involved. Elliott also thanked the Jacksonville, AL community. The pictures from the event look great. There isn’t much better than some charity softball.

Communities across the country connect over softball. Charity games, rec leagues, church leagues, youth games, and more. Riley Green brought a talented group together to raise money for two great causes. Of course, St. Jude helps thousands of children get the medical treatment they desperately need. St. Jude leads the way in researching and treating children’s cancers.

There was plenty of entertainment besides softball as well.

For Jacksonville State, this raised some much-needed funds for the athletics program. A lot of smaller universities struggle to raise funds for athletics and often times have to cut programs. The funds will be greatly appreciated for the OVC school.

Riley Green Tours the Country

As for what is next for Riley Green, the country music artist is heading out on the road. With his July 2nd release of Behind the Bar, Green is touring to help promote the album. There are tour dates in Nashville as well as out west in Utah, Idaho, and Oregon. After going through the west and southwest, Green will come up through the midwest and through the south.

Currently, there are tour dates through November 12th. However, Green is also scheduled to perform at the 2022 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. That will take place on February 12, 2022. Green has been gaining notoriety in the last couple of years. His 2019 album, Different ‘Round Here has had great success on the radio and on streaming services.

Perhaps Riley Green will make this charity softball game an annual event. As he gains fame and continues to rise in the charts, Green could do a lot of good for the Jacksonville community. Chase Elliott sure thought the event was a good one.

Keep an eye out for Riley Green as he tours the country this year.
