Chase Rice Explains How ‘Drinkin’ Beer, Talkin’ God, Amen.’ with Florida-Georgia Line Came to Be

Chase Rice and Florida-Georgoia Line have joined forces once again.

This time, the old friends have collaborated on the song, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” The new track gives Rice and FGL members Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard a chance to recapture the success from their previous single, “Cruise.”

During a recent interview with PopCulture.com, Rice shared how the new song came to be. The singer said Corey Crowder, a producer for him as well as FGL, was a driving force behind its creation. Cale Dodds and Hunter Phelps also had a hand in creating the song.

“Corey was obsessed with the idea of writing a song – he kept saying a porch song …” Chase Rice said. “So, we couldn’t figure it out. Then, I looked through my phone and through my notes and I saw ‘Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen’ and I was just like man if this ain’t a porch song, I don’t know what he wants. As soon as I said it, he loved the idea.”

Rice said crafting the song was “a fun write.”

“It happened easy. The best ones usually happen easy for me, anyway,” Chase Rice said. “I wrote in about an hour, hour-and-a-half; did a vocal on the bus …”

Crowder took the song to FGL and the duo, particularly Brian Kelley, jumped at the chance to collaborate, according to Rice.

“… It’s a special song,” Rice said. “It’s not just a regular collaboration where people get together and do their art together. This is a lot of history behind this one. …”

Chase Rice said the creation of “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” happened organically and was “just us being us.”

“That’s going to be the same thing for the music video when we get that done,” he added.

Rice has also said that he is looking forward to get back on the stage.
