Chris Stapleton and his passion for creating moving music is equal to the compassion he feels taking part in countless charities to help others in need.
Stapleton is using his celebrity status to bring awareness and raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with his performance for the annual St. Jude Radiothon.
Chris Stapleton Performs “I Hope You Dance”
Chris beautifully covers “I Hope You Dance,” the touching and heartwarming song by Lee Ann Womack.
Stapleton takes the beautiful song to the next level while strumming his acoustic guitar and singing via video for the benefit.
Before beginning to play, Chris Stapleton thanks radio host Bobby Bones. Bones is one of the spokesmen and supporters for the Radiothon.
“Bobby, I appreciate you having us here for the St. Jude Radiothon,” says Chris.
Then he begins singing the opening lines:
“I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean/ I hope you never lose your sense of wonder/ You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger/ May you never take one single breath for granted/ God forbid love ever leave you empty-handed.”
“May You Never Take One Single Breath for Granted”
The lyrics of the song Stapleton performs are especially powerful for the children the funds are being raised for, and Stapleton sings them with earnest care.
“Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance/ And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance… ““I Hope You Dance” – Lee Ann Womack
About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Radiothon
Radio stations across the country are participating in the charity fundraiser with the event helping to raise money for cancer research and treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
According to the children’s hospital, “treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened more than 50 years ago.”
Last year $200,000 was raised, and St. Jude is hoping to reach an even larger amount of donations in 2020.
