Country musicians are ready to get back out on the road, with many already making plans for full tours in 2021.

The music industry was rocked by the coronavirus pandemic as tours, festivals and live concerts were canceled through the majority of this year.

Several artists have released a list of cities, venues and dates of upcoming tours. However, the big question is if those concerts will still take place as the 2021 dates draw near.

Will music tours be coming back in 2021?

Chris Stapleton, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan and others are among the list of artists with upcoming live performances marked on their calendars. Of course, the performers on this list have a back-up plan depending on COVID-19, including social-distancing.

The pandemic continues to kill thousands of Americans each day with seemingly no signs of slowing down. As of now, it seems the only way many promoters may allow fans to enter venues is through a COVID-19 vaccine, which is still full of confusion on how and when the vaccine will be administered.

A ‘New Normal’ for Live Performances

The Caverns music venue in Tennessee held one of the first large outdoors concert, filled with social-distancing, temperature taking, mandatory mask-wearing and pre-ordering refreshments and merchandise to be waiting in the two, four or six person pods roped off into sections. Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit performed a four-day concert series in October without any hiccups. The event brings hope to live performances and touring coming back again, but with “a new normal” to keep patrons and artists safe.

“I know it took a lot of planning to pull this off, but it was worth it,” Jason Isbell exclusively told Forbes. “I think it all comes down to what type of audience you draw. Our audience really seemed to appreciate experiencing live music again. They played by the rules and stayed safe. I couldn’t ask for more than that.”

“We could not have been more pleased by the planning and execution by our team, Jason’s team and the patrons who came together creating a very special four days! Not only did we open The Caverns Amphitheater, adding an above-ground venue to go along with our subterranean amphitheater, but we did it in a socially-distanced and responsible manner,” adds Todd Mayo, The Caverns owner and founder of Bluegrass Underground. “We hope this model inspires other promoters to find cool places and spaces in nature and musicians a stage!”

As of now, touring and performing live music is still a waiting game. Nonetheless, it is giving music enthusiasts and fans hope for the next year.
