Christmas Music: Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton and More Releasing 2020 Albums

Calling all you country Christmas song lovers, new music’s coming!

From traditional holiday songs made new again to freshly inked Christmas tunes, various country music artists are giving us a new soundtrack for this Christmas season.

Dolly Parton: ‘A Holly Dolly Christmas’

This will be Dolly Parton’s first-holiday album in 30 years. The album’s name, “A Holly Dolly Christmas,” is inspired by Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas,” she told Billboard.

Parton and Ives used to share the stage on her Christmas specials throughout the years. The album features traditional holiday tunes, as well as original tracks from Parton’s new Netflix movie, “Christmas on the Square.

Carrie Underwood: ‘My Gift’

Carrie Underwood released her first-ever holiday album in September. She even has some special collaborations on this album, including John Legend and her 5-year-old son Isaiah for collaborations. 

The album titled, “My Gift,” includes eight standard holiday songs and three new ones. Two were co-written by Underwood.

Terri Clark: ‘It’s Christmas… Cheers!’

This is Terri Clark’s first holiday album with Mercury Nashville. It’s been 15 years since she released a holiday-themed collection. Clark even produced the album titled, “It’s Christmas… Cheers!” She enlists several artists on the album’s 10-tracks, including Ricky Skaggs, Dierks Bentley, Vince Gill, The Oak Ridge Boys, Pam Tillis, Suzy Bogguss, and The Time Jumpers.

The Canadian’s Christmas country album is available now.

Maddie & Tae: ‘We Need Christmas’

Maddie & Tae’s “We Need Christmas” is their first holiday album. It features is a six-song EP that features four-holiday classics and two new songs. The original songs are “We Need Christmas” and “Merry Married Christmas.” The duo wrote these two new tracks alongside, Taylor Kerr’s husband, songwriter Josh Kerr.

According to this Instagram caption, “This has always been a dream of ours. This project has been such a bright spot for us during 2020, and we hope it becomes one for you as well .”

Runaway June: ‘When I Think About Christmas’

Runaway June’s releasing an EP titled, “When I Think About Christmas.” This is the group’s first EP with new member Natalie Stovall, a former contestant on “The Voice.” The project includes three traditional holiday songs, as well as two originals.

The group writes on Instagam, “It’s been a long crazy year and working on this music has felt so liberating from the madness of the world. When we think about “Christmas” we think of family, peace, rest, love and reflection, gratitude, celebration and we wanted this music to be the soundtrack of what Christmas is to us and hopefully spread a little of that to all of you through this project.”

Lady A: ‘On This Winter’s Night’ (Deluxe Edition)

Lady A thinks “everyone could use a little extra holiday cheer,” and that’s why the threesome’s re-releasing their 2012 holiday album. Furthermore, “On This Winter’s Night” will have its originals as well as four new songs.
