CMA Awards 2020: Chris Stapleton Posts Sweet Message To Wife After Moving ‘Starting Over’ Duet

Chris Stapleton and wife Morgane Stapleton sang a heartbreakingly beautiful duet of the song “Starting Over” at the CMA Awards 2020 Wednesday night.

Meet the Stapletons

The two have been married since 2003. Although Chris is the better-known musician, recently collaborating with Justin Timberlake, Morgane is also a musician in her own right.

Chris and Morgane took to the CMA Awards stage Wednesday and performed a duet, which both broke and burst your heart at the same time.

Chris posted an Instagram photo following the two’s CMA performance. The title affectionately ays, “Wherever you are is where I want to be. #CMAawards

If that wasn’t enough cuteness for fans and followers, CMA Country Music tweets a small snippet of the song’s performance by Chris Stapleton, the country musician best known for his song “Tennessee Whiskey,” and wife Morgane Stapleton, as they appear on stage together.

Upcoming Album by Chris Stapleton

The song is the title track off his upcoming album Starting Over. However, this performance is much more stripped down and personal, as the song is being performed unplugged, and a special musician takes the stage, joining Chris.

A few of the lyrics the couple sing together include:

“It don’t matter to me
Wherever we are is where I wanna be

And, honey, for once in our life
Let’s take our chances and roll the dice
I can be your lucky penny, you can be my four-leaf clover
Starting over”

Onstage Chemistry

The 54th annual CMA Awards co-host Darius Rucker acknowledges the guest taking the stage with Chris, as “his most beloved collaborator and wife,” Morgane Stapleton.

Chris used only his guitar and vocals to perform the song, while his wife, or his right-hand wo-man, stood beside him belting out lyrics.

Fan Reactions to the Stapleton Performance

Twitter responded with quite a few heart emojis. One user replied with “Perfect!!” and another followed with “You guys sounded great thanks.”

Instagram users also stated, “You two are the best” and another with “Both of you give me goosebumps when you sing. You’re absolutely amazing!”
