CMT Awards 2021: Kane Brown Wins Male Video of the Year

It’s that time of year again. Wednesday night, the Country music industry gathered in Nashville to appreciate the best visual offerings from its artists. The CMT Awards saw a lot go down. Fans crowned the best male video of the year. And the Kane Brown-Kelsea Ballerini hosted event featured performances from the likes of Carrie Underwood and Luke Combs.

The hosts themselves even made musical appearances. Kane Brown performed alongside Chris Young and Ballerini with Paul Klein and Carrie Underwood. The fact that the hosts went into the night boasting three nominations added even more to their plate.

One of Kane Brown’s nominations came in the Male Video of the Year category. And fittingly, he was the one to take the award home with his video for “Worship You.” His catchy love song bested the competition. Brown adds the award to his win for Collaborative Video of the Year, earned in tandem with Chris Young for “Famous Friends.”

The nominees were a who’s who of the biggest names in Country music, and beating them all out was no easy feat. Yet that’s exactly what Kane Brown did. As opposed to some other major award ceremonies, the CMTs are awarded on a fan-based voting system. So the “Worship You” video, which features his wife as the subject, was able to reach the fans in a way that the others couldn’t.

Among the other videos up for the award were Chris Stapleton’s “Starting Over,” Darius Rucker’s “Beers and Sunshine,” Luke Bryan’s “Down To One,” Luke Combs’ “Lovin’ On You,” and “What’s Your Country Song” from Thomas Rhett.

2020’s Male Video of the Year at the CMT Awards

Luke Bryan had a chance to repeat this year. In 2020, his video for “One Margarita” took home male video of the year. And it’s pretty easy to see why the fans responded to this one. Bryan is a Country music award powerhouse, boasting more than 40 total awards and seven from the CMTs specifically.

You can watch his winning video from 2020 below.

“Thank you, thank you so much to CMT and all the fans out there,” Bryan said after winning the 2020 award. “It was such a fun video to do. What an honor to have another CMT Music Award.”
