Country music’s biggest stars just received major news about the upcoming CMT Awards.
On Thursday, the long-running CMT awards show announced the 2021 nominees, and women are dominating the pack. Country music powerhouses Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert captured four nominations each.
The co-hosts for the CMT Awards, Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown come in second with three nominations along with Little Big Town and Mickey Guyton — who has also never been nominated for a CMT Award.
In addition to Guyton, 13 first-time nominees are up for their own CMT awards. Dylan Scott, Hailey Whitters, HARDY, Lainey Wilson, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff, Niko Moon, Noah Cyrus, Parmalee, Ryan Hurd, Tyler Hubbard, and Willie Jones are also up for their first CMT awards.
However, awards show veteran, Carrie Underwood, is nominated for video of the year category for her collaboration with John Legend. The coveted category also has 14 nominees. Underwood holds the title of most awarded artist in CMT Music Awards history, with a whopping 22 wins.
Additionally, CMT plans to announce the Top five nominees on June 1, and the top three nominees will be announced on June 8. Afterward, fans can vote for their favorites through social media.
The 2021 CMT Music Awards will air live on June 9 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network, and also on TV Land.
