Brad Paisley and Michael J. Fox summoned the spirit of Chuck Berry when they rocked out to “Johnny B. Goode” in 2017. The country music star and beloved actor performed the song during Fox’s annual A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s fundraiser.

Fans of the movie “Back to the Future” will be familiar with Fox’s connection to the rock classic. As his character, Marty McFly, Fox performs Berry’s song on stage during a key scene in the widely popular time-travel movie.

For the 2017 charity performance, Brad Paisley takes the stage first and introduces Fox as “the man responsible for all of this this evening – with a way more expensive guitar than I own.”

Once Fox takes the stage, Brad Paisley expresses his admiration for the actor. “I’ve been a fan of yours since I was like, tiny,” Paisley says. “I’m still tiny and I’m a fan of yours,” Michael J. Fox says in response that delighted the crowd. What transpires next is a jam session worth going back in time to witness.

The performance by Brad Paisley and Michael J. Fox was a small part of the November 2017 gala that raised funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

According to the organization’s website, Fox established the foundation in 2000. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 when he was 29 years old. He publicly shared news of his diagnosis in 1998.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation is working to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease through research; it is also working to find better therapies for individuals currently living with Parkinson’s.

More information, including details about Parkinson’s causes, symptoms and treatments, can be found on the organization’s website. Donations are also being accepted to help in the fight to find a cure.
