Country Throwback: Dierks Bentley Rocks 2011 ACM Awards with ‘Am I The Only One’

by Joe Rutland

Country music singer-songwriter Dierks Bentley was preparing for his “Country and Cold Cans Tour” in 2011 when he sang at the ACM Awards.

Bentley performed “Am I The Only One,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Charts. The song was one of three songs, including “Home” and “5-1-5-0,” to go all the way to the top of the charts between 2011-12. They all were released off of Bentley’s 2012 album “Home.”

His performance at the ACM Awards shows him walking backstage, starting to sing his song before coming out on stage to join his band.

From there, it was all eyes on Bentley as he sang to the crowd in attendance and watching on CBS.

Dierks Bentley brought along Jerrod Neimann and the Eli Young Band for a leg of that 2011 tour.

“I’ve been friends with Dierks for a long time,” Niemann said at the time. “He’s another guy I’m definitely a fan of. He’s just a good person, and it’s great being on tour with someone you like and that everyone likes.

Dierks Bentley, Wife Cassidy Celebrate 15th Anniversary

Bentley and his wife Cassidy celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary earlier this month.

After meeting at Ingleside Middle School, the two tried dating in high school. It didn’t work out. Bentley was wild and spent his time back then drinking beer and “blowing things up.”

But he never forgot the former Cassidy Black, even as he became a country music star. His heart belonged to her. While on the road or in Nashville, he would send her letters professing his love for her. Finally, she decided to attend one of his shows in Las Vegas. And the two have been together ever since.

“That’s why I married her! I was worried I’d get blackmailed with those letters!” Dierks Bentley said.

Meanwhile, Bentley has a new album out called “Gone.” He sang the title track during an appearance in November on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
