People are still mourning the loss of singer-songwriter John Prine. There are sweet memories, though, and Kacey Musgraves is in one of them.
Back in 2015, Musgraves found herself sharing the stage with Prine at a concert event. Prine begins talking about how he was asked by a young couple if he wanted to step out and have a joint with them. Prine, who was getting ready to go on stage at the time, declined. The couple actually was Kacey Musgraves and her boyfriend.
“This little girl comes up to me with her buddy…. They wanted to take me out in the parking lot and get me high. I said, ‘Uh, gee, thanks but… no, thanks,’” Prine recalls of meeting Musgraves before the show. “We had our picture taken together and the next thing I know, I’m over at my record company, Oh Boy Records, and I hear this tape.
“It’s Kacey singing this song about how she’d like to burn one with John Prine.”
So, this moment happens where Musgraves and Prine banter back and forth about the song. Before singing it, Musgraves asks the audience to pardon her if she starts crying while singing it. If you watch the video closely, then you can see Prine’s joy at having Musgraves sing her song to him.
Kacey Musgraves Gets A Special Moment With John Prine
It’s a Kodak moment which Musgraves probably holds closely to her heart. She starts singing “Burn One With John Prine” and the audience, when she gets to the song’s lyric that mirrors its title, roars its approval. Prine, like a gentle grandfather, looks over at her and smiles.
Enjoy this sweet interaction between Kacey Musgraves and John Prine from 2015.
The performance took place in January 2015 as they were on the Cayamo: A Journey Through Song cruise. Setting sail in December 2014, Prine was one of the performers who entertained voyagers with several shows on the Norwegian Pearl ship, including an in-the-round session with Musgraves.
Musgraves Teases New Collaboration With Ronson, Sivan
The group released “Easy” on Wednesday, Dec. 9. The collaboration appeared to be a new version of Sivan’s “Easy” from his latest EP, “In A Dream.”
In early November 2020, Sivan initially teased the collaboration’s release, saying it would feature two of his “fave artists of all time”.
In another tweet, Sivan added that the release of “Easy’” would be paired with his “fave music video ever,” which he feels “made the song a million times better”.
On Dec. 4, Sivan also celebrated his premiere studio album’s fifth anniversary, Blue Neighbourhood, hitting stores.
“5 years of Blue Neighbourhood today. Half a fckn decade???!!!!!!! Thank u for everything, i love u guys,” he wrote on social media.
After that, within one hour of his celebratory post, he followed it up with three more, each featuring an artist’s name, those being Mark Ronson, Kacey Musgraves, and his own.
