Kenny Chesney is a dynamic performer who is beloved by country music fans. His talent for connecting with those fans is evident in his performance of “Young” in 2005.
As part of a special airing on ABC, Chesney takes to the stage and performs the song about a man looking back on what he did during his youth. The country singer is wearing his usual cowboy hat, T-shirt, and blue jeans for the performance. Mixed in with clips from the recorded performance are several images of Chesney off stage. He’s shown on a boat, and on a beach, as well as walking backstage with his crew.
The singer starts this live performance of “Young” hidden from the audience. In addition, as he sings, “Listen to our music just a little too loud,” the curtain that was blocking him from the audience drops. Unsurprisingly, his fans go wild.
Stagehands remove the curtain from Kenny Chesney’s path and he quickly makes his way out to his audience. Without a doubt, he’s clearly hyped up to be on the stage and it shows in his demeanor.
Kenny Chesney Rocks Crowd While Singing ‘Young’
“We were wanna be rebels who didn’t have a clue / With our rock n’ roll T-shirts, and our typically bad attitudes / Had no excuses for the things that we’d done We were brave, we were crazy, we were mostly / Young,” he belts to cheers from the crowd.
He then encourages the fans to sing along as he engages with the crowd.
“Talked a good game when we were out with the guys / But in the back seat we were awkward and shy / Girls were a mystery that we couldn’t explain / And I guess there are some things that are never gonna change,” Chesney goes on to sing.
“Young” was officially released in December 2001. In addition, the song was the first single released from Chesney’s “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem,” album in 2002. “Young” made it all the way to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks Chart. It went to No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
