It feels right to feature Dolly Parton in a country throwback on Christmas Day. The country music legend is well-known for her popular Christmas music.
Parton and Rogers released their holiday album, Once Upon A Christmas, in October of 1984. The album featured a ten-song tracklist full of some of Christmas’ greatest hits sung by both of the music icons themselves. It would go on to be certified 2x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 1989. It was Rogers’ second Christmas album, following 1981’s Christmas, and Parton’s first.
Alongside the hit holiday album was the CBS Christmas television special Kenny & Dolly: A Christmas To Remember. The Christmas special aired the same year as the release of the album, just a few weeks before Christmas.
“A Christmas To Remember” is widely regarded as one of the most popular songs from the album. The music video for the song had fans laughing the entire time. The video begins with Parton and Rogers on the phone trying to arrange a time to see each other within the year. When their extremely busy schedules aren’t lining up, they are forced to choose a new date in December.
