We sing for different reasons. We sing to express love or joy or heartbreak. And, we sing to be funny, which is what Luke Bryan did in 2012.
During a performance in Nashville in February of that year, the “One Margarita” singer challenges himself with a song by one of the world’s most popular voices.
“Here’s the deal,” Bryan says while sitting at a piano. “… Well, it’s kinda funny that in the home of the world’s greatest musicians that I would play piano ’cause I suck at the piano, alright. So, don’t judge in here, alright?”
Luke Bryan goes on to say that he performs a song to “kinda warm up a little bit” and encourages the crowd to sing along. He then breaks out with the first bars of Adele’s hit “Someone Like You” as his fans join in.
He enjoys the fun moment and allows the crowd to take the lead before elevating his voice on the chorus. “Never mind, I’ll find someone like you,” he belts. “I want nothing but the best for you.”
Ever the showman, Luke Bryan invites the crowd to join in again – and they do. He’s clearly happy with their efforts. “Give yourself a hand,” he says as the crowd breaks out in applause.
