Country powerhouse Miranda Lambert turned heads when she put a fiery spin on a classic rock song during her “Livin’ Like Hippies” tour in 2018.
During the end of a show in Atlanta, Lambert placed her rendition on Joe Walsh’s classic hit, “Rocky Mountain Way.” Even though fans recognize Lambert as a country artist, her performance proved she wouldn’t be constrained to one genre.
Her band took center stage throughout the extended jam at the Atlanta stop of her tour. After Lambert introduced the band, complete with her interpretation of a North Dakota accent, pedal steel specialist Spencer Cullum Jr. blew the crowd away with a “talking guitar” solo to honor Walsh and Peter Frampton.
When the band begins “Rocky Mountain Way,” Lambert kicks things off with a bang firing up high energy that makes her one of the best performers of our time. She also channeled Walsh with her outfit: appropriately rocking ’70s style fringe to match the rock-n-roll standard.
She even gets into some head-banging reminiscent of her “Kerosene” performance at the 2005 CMA Awards.
Miranda Lamberts’ Powerhouse Performance Of Classic Hit
The nationwide event marked Lambert’s eighth headlining concert tour, beginning on January 18, 2018, in Greenville, South Carolina, and ended on June 17, 2018, in Grand Junction, Colorado.
This performance wasn’t the first time Lambert has leaned into her rock-n-roll spirit. She’s proven herself to be an old soul, such as when she included Faces’ 1971 classic “Stay With Me” in her various setlists.
In 2017, fans got the chance to see her perform a cover of Faces’ 1971 hit, “Stay With Me.” On one stop, her now ex-boyfriend, artist Anderson East, joined her on a duet of the tune.
It’s safe to say Lambert’s voice and energy are well-suited for songs such as “Rocky Mountain Way.” Time after time, she’s proven to be rock-n-roll through and through despite her title as a country music artist.
Her ability to channel her sassy attitude and her powerful voice makes her the perfect person to cover timeless classics.
Speaking of “Rocky Mountain Way,” we can only hope that Joe Walsh and Lambert join forces soon for a duet. Walsh has joined several other country stars over the years, including Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, and Keith Urban for a rendition of “Rocky Mountain Way.”
