Don’t bring a beach ball to a Miranda Lambert concert or it’s going to “die.”

Lambert and beach balls do not get along. In fact, the country music superstar has voiced her disdain for the inflatables since the start of her career. While touring with Kenny Chesney in 2009, Lambert opened up about why she cannot stand beach balls at concerts.

“I hate beach balls,” Lambert said during an interview. “I just feel like people are so distracted from the music when they’re trying to worry about a beach ball hitting them in the head and bouncing around like a volleyball. And people down front get hit in the back of the head because they don’t see it coming,” she said.

However, a few fans still chance it by bringing beach balls to Miranda’s concerts. It’s almost as if fans want to see how she will respond when a beach ball comes her way. So, Miranda has a new tradition (and weapon) on hand for beach balls at her concerts.

“I started keeping a knife on the drum riser for occasions just like that!” said Lambert.

A fan shared a video of Lambert walking over to the drum set, picking up the knife and stabbing a beach ball. Along with the video, the fan wrote, “BEACH BALL ALERT” along with knife emojis.

After stabbing the ball, Lambert says “I love y’all but we’re not at the beach, we’re singing country music tonight.”

Miranda Lambert’s Bandmate Made Her A Knife Necklace

The first time Lambert popped a beach ball was while she was touring with Kenny Chesney in 2009. A ball not only made its way onto the stage but also ended up hitting her in the head while she performed “Gunpowder & Lead.” She grabbed the ball, took off her shoe and stabbed it with her heel. After that incident, she started keeping a knife by the drumset on stage. However, Lambert recently upgraded to an even better version of her beach-ball-popping weapon. Her Pistol Annies bandmate made her a knife necklace. The mini knife dangles from a long chain that Miranda wears while performing. Now, when she comes across a beach ball, she simply reaches for the knife on her necklace and pops the ball.

One fan captured the moment during one of Lambert’s concerts. During the video, Lambert grabs the ball and says “Okay, first, it feels like January, so we don’t need this today.” She then reaches for her necklace. “My friend made this for me and I was hoping I could use it today because it’s a pistol but it’s also a pocket knife,” she says holding up the little pistol-shaped pocket knife on her necklace. “So, I’m sorry, very sorry for whoever’s ball this is but it’s going to die now,” she says before stabbing the ball.

In conclusion, don’t bring beach balls to Miranda Lambert concerts.
