Keith Urban and Faith Hill delivered a stunning performance when the duo shared the stage during the 2006 Grammy Awards. That night, the country superstars were both nominated for their own Grammy awards.
The academy nominated Hill for three awards: Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “Mississippi Girl,” Best Country Album for Fireflies, and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for her duet with husband Tim McGraw on “Like We Never Loved at All.”
That evening she would take home the latter award, making it her fifth Grammy award.
Urban was nominated Best Male Country Performance for “You’ll Think of Me.” That night, Urban won his first of many Grammy awards.
Keith Urban Surprises Audience with Faith Hill Duet
Keith Urban proved he had the vocal chops when he performed “You’ll Think of Me.” As he sang, he sat on a cage-like structure and poured out his heart as he sang about a former romance.
Mesmerized, the crowd couldn’t keep their eyes off Urban. Just as the performance seemed to be coming to a close, Urban threw the audience a curveball when Hill came strolling out. With her own guitar in hand, she began singing her recently released song, “The Lucky One.” She featured it as the third single off of her new album at the time, Fireflies.
After their performance, Hill’s song garnered newfound popularity, marking it as the fifth spot on the country music charts.
Even though Hill took the lead for most of the performance, Keith Urban sang along with her during the chorus. He even got the chance to show off his guitar skills during a solo.
As the two finished the performance, the crowd was already on its feet, including a beaming Tim McGraw. Watch the jaw-dropping performance from the two country music legends below.
