Alan Jackson heed his first haw all the way back in 1990. The young country singer was at the start of his career when he appeared on the TV show “Hee Haw.”
“Hee Haw” aired from 1969 to 1997 and featured some of the biggest names in country music. Singers like Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton made appearances on the show. But audiences may have been less familiar with Jackson and his music at the time. Jackson had just released his debut studio album “Here in the Real World” and was beginning to blow up in the industry.
Jackson brought a bit of his Georgia charm to the show. The country singer looked like a real western gunslinger. He wore a fringe jacket, washed-out jeans, and an iconic white cowboy hat. If clothes make the man, then music makes the singer. And Jackson didn’t disappoint in that regard.
He treated audiences to a live rendition of his single “Here in the Real World” that left everyone spell-bound. The young singer had all the qualities of a star in the making.
“Here In The Real World” featured as the second single on Jackson’s debut album. Upon release, the song quickly became his first Top 40 country hit. It charted at No. 3 on the Billboard country charts.
