Country duo Dan + Shay did some math when they hilariously referred to their hit single, “10,000 Hours.”

The lead single is from their fourth studio album, All To Myself. Justin Beiber collaborated with the two on the track and even incorporated it into his wedding with Hailey Baldwin.

The song became No. 4 on the “Billboard Top 100.” It also set records when it became the highest-charting non-holiday country song, beating Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise.” It has over 180 million views on Youtube.

On Monday, Dan + Shay had a playful back-and-forth with their fans about the fact that it had been precisely 10,000 hours since its release.

One user writing, “You waited for this moment to tweet this??” Dan + Shay followed up by replying, “Honestly we’ve been planning it since before the song was even written.”

They kept the fun going, tweeting that the joke was sitting in their drafts long before they created the hit.

Dan + Shay’s AMA Success

What seemed like an odd collab ended up being a huge success when the two took home the title of “Collaboration of the Year” at this year’s American Music Awards. In shock, they described their disbelief while also adding feeling honored.

“We literally did not expect to win this at all. It’s a tremendous honor just to be in this category. These are some of our favorite songs of all time,” Shay Mooney said as he stood alongside Dan Smyers.

They also gave a jaw-dropping performance of the song “I Should Probably Go to Bed” at the awards show. During the performance, Dan Smyers played the piano while Shay Mooney paired it with his incredible vocals. They released a stripped-down rendition of the song when they recorded it at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville.

Due to the pandemic, the duo had to reschedule their tour for 2021. It will kick off in Greenville, South Carolina, in September 2021.
