You can take Darius Rucker and Gary LeVox out of the country but you can’t take the country out of Darius Rucker and Gary LeVox. Since his solo debut in 2001, Darius has released some of country music’s favorite tunes including “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” and his cover of “Wagon Wheel.” Gary broke into the country scene with his former band Rascal Flatts in 2000. The two of them carved their paths in country music around the same time. So it makes sense why the two of them would go on tour together. But even after all that success, both Gary and Darius are just country boys at heart.

This is proven by the video Darius recently shared on Twitter. During the video, Darius hilariously shares a story about the time he and Gary almost got arrested while on tour together. He said that, while walking back to their tour buses they spotted a golf cart. And you can’t leave a golf cart lying around when there are two country boys in the area. Obviously, shenanigans ensued.

“I was thinking the other day about being on the road with Rascal Flatts. We were playing Toronto. And we were walking to our buses and I was walking with Gary. And we saw a golf cart. So, sure enough, we grabbed it,” said Darius Rucker.

But simply riding around in the golf cart wasn’t enough for the two. They wanted to feel the wind in their hair on the open road (highway) across the street.

“We were driving out and all of a sudden Gary decided that we were going to go across the street, across the highway. So we go across the highway in this golf cart. And as soon as we get across the highway we see the blue lights. We’re getting pulled over in a golf cart. The cop wants to arrest us,” said Darius.

But it wasn’t friends ’til the end in this scenario. Darius hilariously shared what happened next.

“And the funniest thing about the whole thing is, the cop stops us and me and Joe Don [Rooney] did the old, pretend like we’re not there thing. Where we just got out of the golf cart and started walking back. We were leaving Gary right there. He was going to jail by himself, we were out of there,” said Darius while laughing. “But, obviously, none of us went to jail, our security came over and got all of us. But that was one of the few nights in my life where I really thought I was going to jail.”

We’re glad the two country superstars didn’t end up in jail. But we definitely want to hear more stories like this. Darius Rucker, please keep sharing!
