Imagine sitting at an IHOP, enjoying your golden fluffy pancake, when bam, you look up, and Darius Rucker is at the booth next to you. As you get up to leave, your waitress informs you that the country star has bought you and everyone else in the restaurant’s meal.
On Sunday, after eating his delicious breakfast, the county music star quietly paid for everyone’s meal. He also left a hefty tip for the servers.
If IHOP’s Twitter is any sign, this is exactly the type of thing the restaurant and its customers love to see.
According to WMBF NBC News, Darius Rucker frequents the restaurant, where servers would consider him a regular. This helps in not attracting so much attention so he may eat in peace.
The restaurant’s general manager, Stephen Vitale, said Rucker approached him and asked to pick up the tab for everyone currently eating at the popular breakfast chain. Vitale was shocked.
“It was a full restaurant,” Vitale said. “There were a lot of people. I added it up, and he paid. It caused a lot of excitement.”
Vitale said that the three-time Grammy winner also left a “very generous” tip for all the servers to share. When asked how much it totaled out to be, Vitale declined to provide a number to the news source.
“We know him because he does come in quite often, and we consider him a regular,” Vitale said. “It was a good morning at IHOP.”
While most people didn’t recognize Darius Rucker due to his mask that he wore whenever he wasn’t eating, a few eagle-eyed fans thanked him for his generosity.
The International House of Pancakes never fails to disappoint.
Darius Rucker is Serving Up the Good News
Darius Rucker also made a fellow country band’s day when he surprised them on stage on January 21. Rucker walked onto the stage to ask the members of Lady A if they would accept his invitation to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. Co-lead singer, Hillary Scott, broke down in tears at the surprise.
Darius Rucker is just getting on everyone’s good side in typical “Southern Style” fashion.
