Dierks Bentley revealed that he wants to create a dive bar tour.
Ahead of the 2021 ACM Awards, Bentley spoke to Taste of Country about his new idea. He also told the outlet that he hopes to launch a “big tour” this summer for his solo music. But in the meantime, he wants to put on a dive bar tour.
“I’m gonna do a little dive bar tour, just for the heck of it,” he said. “Why not, you know? You can right now … to kind of get the word out that we’re back.”
The original idea behind the potential intimate tour was for Dierks Bentley’s classic 90s side project.
“The Hot Country Knights actually wanted to do the dive bar tour,” Bentley revealed. “But they might tag along … They might be out there.”
Dierks Bentley and the ACMs
Dierks Bentley performed the 1984 U2 classic “Pride (In The Name of Love)” at the 2021 ACM Awards. He first recorded the song for his 2010 Bluegrass record, Up on the Ridge. He performed the song at Nashville’s Station Inn alongside The War and Treaty and Larkin Poe.
“I first came to this bar when I was 19 years old looking for something and I found it in the music here and I found it in the bluegrass community,” Bentley told fans before the performance.
Aside from his performance. Dierks Bentley was nominated for Male Artist of the Year and Video of the Year for “Gone.”
Thomas Rhett ended up calling out Dierks Bentley for heckling him during his acceptance speech for Male Artist of the Year. Other nominees in the category included Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, and Luke Combs. Rhett said backstage after the show that he was aware that Bentley was “hollering his shenanigans.”
He told reporters that he wouldn’t reveal what Bentley said “for Dierks’ sake.”
“Every time each nominee[‘s name] would come across the screen, he’d say something hilarious, especially when it got to my name. I just couldn’t stop laughing,” Rhett said.
Rhett said that he couldn’t keep a straight face with his buddy staring at him. “Every time I looked at Dierks’ face, I just couldn’t stop laughing,” he said. “Dierks is always one of my favorite friends, and getting to sit there with Luke and Eric and Dierks, those are the kinds of memories you remember forever.”
