If there’s one thing Dolly Parton loves, it’s a pink ensemble and a little sequin never hurt. She dazzled in a pair of recent pics. She sat down with W Magazine to take some great pictures and talk about her career, life, and more.
Parton is seen with a pair of big butterfly sunglasses in one of her classic dresses and of course, big hair. On the cake is a classic Dolly photo from when she was in her curly hair era.
One of the topics she talked about, butterflies. She has long had a love for the colorful insects. In fact, she used to get in some trouble for it. “I used to get in trouble with my mom, ’cause they’d have to come find me and I’d be chasing a butterfly from one bush to another,” Parton said.
So, why does the country music legend love butterflies so much? Well, it’s pretty simple.
“Butterflies don’t sting, they don’t bite, and they are so beautiful. And I just kind of related to them with my own personality. I claimed them as my little symbol.” That has been apparent throughout her career. From her outfits to photos, and even the Dollywood sign, butterflies have always been a Dolly Parton staple.
Parton even has a couple of butterfly tattoos, which she explained to W.
“I have a few little tattoos here and there,” she said. “Most of my tattoos came because I’m very fair and I have a tendency to scar when I get any kind of cut. I’ve had surgeries for different things, and if the scars didn’t heal properly, I just gotta put tattoos to take the sting out. I don’t have real heavy, dark tattoos. Mine are all pastel. And I have more than one!”
Dolly Parton Remembers Falling in Love with Husband
It was Dolly Parton’s first day in Nashville. She was young and ready to make a name for herself in Music City, USA. However, she also met her husband, Carl Dean on that first day. After 55 years of marriage together, it is clear that everything was meant to be between the two.
This year for Carl’s birthday, Parton gave her husband an extra special treat. She redid her famous Playboy Magazine photoshoot and even put on the bunny ears once more to present him with the gift. The 75-year old really turned back the clock.
When she came to Nashville, she had no idea she would meet her future husband on her first day in town.
“I had a lot of boys in my life, I love boys. I still do. In the early days, I had a big crush on Johnny Cash. He was young and skinny, and he just had that magnetism. The way he moved around – you know, so sexy. I found out later he was just having withdrawals from drugs, but it still touched me. He was so, so sexy,” Parton revealed to W.
Instead, she met Carl Dean outside of a laundromat and after the first date at McDonald’s the two have spent happily ever after.
