Legendary country music star and animal lover Dolly Parton is celebrating National Pet Day along with the rest of the world.
Parton took to social media on Sunday to share a photo of her favorite pooch. The country singer and songwriter refers to the pet as her “God Dog” but doesn’t specify who owns the French Bulldog. She wishes the pup a happy National Pet Day and celebrates the day with her millions of adoring fans.
“Happy National Pet Day to my favorite god dog, @btkthefrenchie!” Parton says in the Sunday afternoon social media post. “Isn’t he just the cutest!”
Parton ends the Instagram post’s caption with a heart emoji and paw prints emoji. While the bulldog may look less than enthused in the photo, you can bet he is having a good time with Parton. The country star’s social media post took in more than 59,000 “likes” and hundreds of comments. Many commenters took the opportunity to wish their own pets a special day of celebration.
The dog’s name is “Billy the Kid,” or “BTK” for short, and he has his own Instagram page that is full of pics. Billy’s Instagram page jokingly says he spends his days running CTK Enterprises.
Dolly Parton Joins Millions in Celebrating Pets
Much like Dolly Parton, millions of people took to social media on Sunday to share photos of their pets. National Pet Day is celebrated each year, typically in the month of April.
If you are a pet owner, you know that every day is a day to celebrate your favorite animal. The National Institute of Health says having a furry companion has loads of benefits to our mental and physical health. Some of the proven benefits of having a pet are decreased blood pressure, increased exercise and social opportunities, and positive effects on mental health.
Dolly Parton is one of the most iconic country singers and songwriters of all time. In addition to being a wildly successful entertainer, she has also found success as an actress, businesswoman, and humanitarian. Parton even has her own theme park called “Dollywood.” The massive adventure park is located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, near Parton’s hometown of Sevierville, Tennessee.
But like everyone else, Parton loves her cute and adorable canine best friend. And she wanted to shared BTK with the rest of the world through social media.
