Country music legend Dolly Parton is partnering with Country Music Television to bring fans a “Holly Dolly Christmas” takeover on the country network.

Parton and CMT announced that the all-day Christmas marathon will take place on Saturday, December 5.

The full channel takeover by Parton will be including a holiday movie marathon. It will also feature classic music videos, a full episode of CMT Hot 20 Countdown, personal anecdotes from Parton, and more. The holiday festivities will kick off with an entirely Dolly Parton-themed episode of CMT Hot 20 Countdown at 9 a.m. ET/8 a.m. CT.

However, the main event will be the CMT Holly Dolly Christmas Movie Marathon. It will begin precisely following the episode and it will feature some of the most iconic Parton films of all time. Some of those movies include Coat of Many ColorsChristmas of Many Colors: Circle of LoveUnlikely Angel, and Steel Magnolias.

The special event will be hosted by CMT’s Katie Cook. The show will welcome Parton as its only guest, where she will be discussing her new holiday album, A Holly Dolly Christmas.

Meanwhile, throughout the marathon, Parton fans can expect some fun surprises from the country star. Some of these will include personal holiday reflections and Christmas memories from Parton herself. In addition, she will offer a tease for her upcoming CBS special, along with much more.

Dolly Parton Says She Loves Christmas

The Dolly Parton takeover of CMT makes complete sense when you take into account how much she loves the Christmas season. In an interview with ET Canada, Parton says that she has “loved Christmas all her life.” It’s a big part of the reason she has been involved in making so many Christmas tunes and movies.

“Well I have loved Christmas all my life and I always wanted to do either Christmas movies or Christmas specials,” Parton told Weston. “And I did an album of course with my friend Kenny [Rogers]. We did a Christmas special. So there’s just something about me that just says Christmas.”

Parton goes on to mention what her favorite parts of the holiday season are. She said that she loves the fun, family, and music. Not to mention all of the sparkly decorations.

“I love everything about Christmas,” Parton concludes.
