The great Dolly Parton has many reasons for everything in her life — that even includes why she decided early on that she wouldn’t keep a diary.

A diary is often a private place where one can write down their feelings, thoughts, and opinions. It is where you can go to record events, experiences, and other personal things free of criticism.

But for the queen of country music, she evidently never needed that kind of outlet. In a sit-down with Interview Magazine back in 2014, Dolly Parton revealed that she never kept a diary.

Interviewer Andy Warhol asked Parton during their exchange about whether or not she kept a private journal. Her answer was the only thing you’d expect from the one and only Dolly Parton.

“Do you keep a diary?” one of Warhol’s famous questions asked.

“I don’t have to,” Dolly responded. “It seems like for the last 40 years my life has been lived in the press, so I can Google any date in my history and find out what I was doing.”

And she is not wrong. Since making her debut album, Hello, I’m Dolly, back in 1967, Dolly Parton has become one of the biggest country music icons of our lifetimes. She has sold more than a hundred million records worldwide, in addition to being RIAA-certified gold, platinum, and multi-platinum. She has also had 25 songs reach the No. 1 spot on the country charts. That is a record for all female artists (tied with Reba McEntire).

So, yeah, it’s safe to say that the Country Music Hall of Famer has spent most of her life in the spotlight and in the headlines of the press.

Dolly Parton Once Received a Baby From a Fan

Tennessee’s own Dolly Parton answered a variety of different questions during her 2014 interview with Andy Warhol. However, perhaps the most eye-catching question and answer came when Dolly was asked what is the craziest fan gift she has ever received.

“What’s the craziest thing a fan has sent you?” another classic Warhol question poses to Parton.

“A baby, a real live baby,” Dolly explained. “Someone left a baby on our front doorstep with a note that they wanted us to raise it. Of course, we contacted the authorities and they took care of the baby.” That must have been a crazy experience, and without a doubt takes the cake for the craziest fan gift.
