Christmas on the Square from Dolly Parton has arrived on Netflix!
What Dolly Parton Had to Say
“I can’t wait for you and your loved ones to enjoy this holiday musical,” Parton tweeted. “I hope we can all come together and sing along on November 22.”
Fans will fall in love with this whimsical musical that brings the holiday spirit to life. Fans can now stream the film through Netflix Family. The movie also comes with its very own soundtrack, A Holly Dolly Christmas. Furthermore, the film has its own title track, “Christmas on the Square,” all written and performed by Parton for her first Christmas album in 30 years.
“I thought, ‘I think I’ll call it A Holly Dolly Christmas because I love the song ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’ with Burl Ives,” Parton told Billboard. “He used to be on all of my Christmas specials all through the years. I think of him as Mr. Christmas. I thought, ‘Why don’t do I call it something cute and clever, like that or Deck the Halls with Boughs of Dolly, something corny like that.’”

All About the Film
The musical was directed by Emmy and Golden Globe winner Debbie Allen and stars Parton, Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, and Treat Williams.
“This is the story about family, love, and how a small town’s Christmas spirit can warm even the coldest of hearts,” the movie description on Netflix reads.
Parton stars as the guardian angel of Regina Fuller, played by Christine Baranski. Fuller is described as a nasty, rich woman who returned to her town after years away. Fuller plans to evict most of the town and sell the land to a developer, all during Christmas. Parton attempts to change her mind and reconnect her with an old boyfriend and her fellow neighbors.
