Dolly Parton released the Netflix movie trailer for her upcoming film, Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square.
The clip gave fans a preview of what’s to come from the “Jolene” hitmaker. The musical features Parton as an angel following around Regina Fuller, portrayed by Christine Baranski. Fuller is a rich and nasty woman that returned to her small town after her father’s death during Christmas time. She is there to evict everyone and sell the land to a developer, right before Christmas. The angel tries to change her mind and her heart while she reconnects with an old flame and the fellow townspeople.
“This is the story about family, love, and how a small town’s Christmas spirit can warm even the coldest of hearts,” the movie description reads.
The film stars Parton, Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, and Treat Williams. The musical is directed and choreographed by three-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner Debbie Allen.

The Music From Dolly Parton
The musical features 14 original songs from Parton. This follows the release of her first Christmas album in 30 years, A Holly Dolly Christmas. Additionally, a song off of the record is titled “Christmas on the Square.” The record has numerous celebrity guest vocals.
Michael Bublé, Billy Ray Cyrus, her goddaughter Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon and Willie Nelson are featured on it. Her brother, Randy Parton, will also be featured on a song.
“I thought, ‘I think I’ll call it A Holly Dolly Christmas because I love the song ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’ with Burl Ives,” she told Billboard. “He used to be on all of my Christmas specials all through the years. I think of him as Mr. Christmas. I thought, ‘Why don’t do I call it something cute and clever, like that or Deck the Halls with Boughs of Dolly, something corny like that.’”
