Over the years, Dolly Parton has blessed the world with her wonderful songwriting and singing. Not only have her songs been played millions of times on the radio and elsewhere, but Parton’s music has also appeared in television and film as well. It hasn’t always been her singing or performing the songs though.

Many other artists have covered Dolly Parton’s songs for various films and shows. When it comes to sharing her music, Parton doesn’t think too much about it. Speaking with Pensacola New Journal , she spoke on the subject. “Well, actually I’m always happy when different people want to use my songs, and I usually allow it,” the country star explained.

That doesn’t mean that she lets just anyone do anything to her music. Dolly says that things must be approved first. “They, of course, always have to run that through either the record company or my publishing company, as I publish most of my song.”

However, things aren’t all that serious.

“I’m always happy to license these things to them, because first and foremost, I think of myself as a songwriter.” As a writer, Dolly has a desire to share her songs, regardless of who sings them.

One of Dolly Parton’s most popular songs was made very popular by another artist. I Will Always Love You, turned into Whitney Houston’s biggest song. Parton says she was “certainly impressed,” with Houston’s version. When it comes to songwriting, there is no telling what might happen. Songs are picked up by artists all the time. It just takes the right artist to perfect a song. Parton understands that deeply.

“You never know where your songs are going…but it’s always a compliment,” the singer-songwriter said.

Dolly Parton Gets into Another Kind of Writing

While Dolly Paron is a songwriter first and foremost, she has recently gotten into another kind of writing. Parton is set to release a novel. This is her first novel. It was written in collaboration with James Patterson. The book, Run, Rose, Run, will also come with a full album.

Writing this novel with Patterson is a big deal for Dolly Parton. The thriller will take place in Nashville. It follows the life of an aspiring country music singer who risks it all by moving to Music City. The novel will be available on March 7, 2022. Patterson is a legendary writer himself. His collaboration on the book will go a long way. Of course, Dolly knows how to tell a story lyrically so it should come out in the novel as well.

Dolly Parton continues to impress and inspire so many. With her music, her book, or her many other projects, Parton is going strong at 75-years-old. The Queen of Country Music might become the Queen of Country Novels? We will just have to wait and read for ourselves.
