Country superstar Dolly Parton may seem like she’s done it all – records, movies, holiday specials, a book, a theme park. But she said she’s got plenty more items on her to-do list.
Dolly Parton Has Many Dreams
“There’s a lot that I still want to do,” Parton told McEntire. “Dreams are like trees – you know, they’ve got deep roots, they’ve got limbs and they’ve got leaves and you’ve gotta be responsible for all of that.”
Parton recently wrapped up a very busy holiday season. In addition to releasing her holiday album, “A Holly Dolly Christmas,” she also starred in a Netflix movie. And she hosted her own Christmas special.
Moreover, that’s on top of promoting her new book, “Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.” It’s a memoir-meets-coffee-table book that details the stories behind some of Parton’s biggest hits, as well as the trajectory of her Grammy, CMA, ACM and AMA Award-winning career.
But Parton is not resting on her laurels. Now she’s on to the next project – or in her case, several projects.
A Long To-Do List
“Right now I just started with IMG, my branding company, where I’m gonna come out with my own perfume real soon, a line of makeup, clothes, and all this stuff that I have not done yet,” Parton said. “Wigs, I want to do wigs and pieces, and all that.”
“But I’m still gonna do more movies,” she added. “And maybe do my life story. I’ve got my Broadway musical still in the works, I’ve been working on that for years, so I’m working on that now.”
Parton also has to be happy about the podcast “Dolly Parton’s America,” which her friend’s son hosts, which just won Best Music Podcast at the 2021 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. The awards show has been taking place for three years now, and this year’s event featured celebrity presenters such as Will Ferrell and Gwen Stefani.
Meanwhile, she’s on the lookout for more work to take on. Parton is an unabashed workaholic who says she hopes to keep working until she drops dead from sheer exhaustion.
“Long as I’m living, I’m working,” Parton concluded. “There’s no way I could retire. I’ve always said I wanna just be like one of those little fainting goats. You know, I just wanna be running along and just keel over one day. And just die right in the middle of a song, hopefully one I’ve written.”
