Answering Andy Warhol’s classic “Interview” magazine questions, Dolly Parton once revealed that the craziest fan gift she’s ever received was, in fact, “a real live baby.”
Oh, to be a fly on the wall for even just one day in her life. Universal treasure and soon-to-be ice cream flavor Dolly Parton once worked her way through “Andy Warhol’s Interview Interview” in 2014, and her answers were as delightful as the artist’s magazine’s classic pedestrian-yet-brilliant questions.
Perhaps the top of the heap, however, has to be Parton’s answer to this gem:
“What’s the craziest thing a fan has sent you?” the iconic question asked.
“A baby, a real live baby,” Dolly dished. “Someone left a baby on our front doorstep with a note that they wanted us to raise it.”
If you’re thinking ‘wait, Dolly Parton doesn’t have any children – adopted or otherwise!’ – you are still correct. Country’s Queen revealed that “Of course, we contacted the authorities and they took care of the baby.”
What a day that must’ve been.

And the baby was just the tip of the iceberg. When it’s Dolly Parton being interviewed, the answers come of only one sort: fascinating. Spit-firing a few more Q&As off proves it tenfold.
The magazine plucked one of Warhol’s classic questions, asking the country icon how much lipstick she owns.
“Just one, but it’s as big as a can of hairspray.”
Next, the topic came to clothes. Anybody that knows Dolly Parton knows her looks and outfits are just as important as anything.
“Same kind I have always liked: really tight and really sparkly. Never leave a rhinestone unturned.”
Dolly’s ability to make fun of herself is one of her most likable traits. Never taking things too seriously, never letting her ego get the best of her. So when she was asked about visiting the White House, her answer reflected that personality perfectly.
“Yes! Several times with many different presidents. There’s nothing like white trash at the White House.”
Classic Dolly Parton. Moreover, if you’re curious as to Dolly’s home cookin’, she revealed her Southern specialty in the May 12, 2014 interview, as well.
Dolly was also asked about what she likes to cook and is good at cooking. Unsurprisingly, the answer comes from Dolly’s roots.
“If you like good ol’ fashion Southern soul food then, yes, I am a good cook! My specialty is chicken dumplings and poke salad.”
Count this Tennessee boy in! I could eat chicken dumplings and poke salad crafted by Dolly Parton every day for the rest of my life.
Out of all her answers, however, one, in particular, made me gargle my afternoon coffee. Andy Warhol asked if there was anything Dolly regretted doing.
“Yes! His name is Jimmy,” Parton replied deadpan.
No one tell Carl Dean! Though, honestly, after being married to the incomparable Dolly Parton for nigh six decades, we’d imagine he spit his coffee at that one, too.
