As one of the most universally beloved figures, Dolly Parton is really pulling out all the stops this Fourth of July. The multiple attempts to create an honorary statue of her is proof of that love and admiration.
She posted a photo in a glamorous stars and stripes outfit, holding an old-fashioned microphone. Behind her is an American flag as well. The photo is an explosion of red, white, and blue, patriotism, the stars and stripes, and The Queen of Country herself.
She captioned her absolutely iconic photo, “Have a happy and safe #4thofJuly”
As one commenter put it perfectly, “This is the only 4th of July content I’m interested in.”
Parton has a reputation as one of the most wholesome celebrities. For example, one of her recent photos is captioned, “Just wanted to pop by and let you know that you are so loved.” She even shared a precious moment between her and her dog. It’s proof that while we can listen to the Dolly Parton classics all day, we can also listen to her talk to her precious French Bulldog all day too.
Revisiting Doly Parton’s ‘For God and Country’
Dolly Parton continues to get recognition for being one of the most talented songwriters of her generation.
In November 2003, Parton released her album “For God and Country.” It is considered by many to be the singer and songwriter’s reflection and coping mechanism following the deadly September 11, 2001 attacks. The album has covers of famous patriotic songs as well as originals.
The classic outfit Parton donned on Instagram today is the same one she wore for the cover photo. She’s depicted as if she’s on a vintage USO poster.
Her song “Color Me America” is the perfect tune to play for Independence Day this year. It is about being proud of where you’re from, but also standing up for diversity, inclusion, and justice. Dolly Parton has been vocal in the past about equality for all people and communities.
“I am red and white and blue / these are colors that ring true / to all I am and feel and love and do / I stand proud and brave and tall / I want justice for us all / so color me America, red, white and blue.”
Dolly Parton Fourth of July Celebrations
It’s likely that Dolly Parton is doing something to celebrate the Fourth of July today.
Like any good celebration, food is most likely at the forefront. She has said in the past that she enjoys entertaining and cooking on major holidays like the Fourth of July. She even detailed what a good cookout should look like. Born in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Parton has some experience with the outdoors and making a good cookout meal.
She told The New York Times in 1992, “I love roast pork, especially the fatty part. I can’t help it. The greasier the food, the better.” She loves to cook up homemade classic southern comfort foods, such as fried okra and green beans.
We may not know exactly what the country music icon is up to this year, but it can’t be too different than what most Americans do for the national holiday.
