2022 MerleFest is ready to bring down the house with Emmylou Harris headlining.
The annual festival is just 143 days away! Harris will be performing on Sunday closing the day out with a sure-to-be epic performance. The 14 time Grammy winner will be appearing for the twelfth time at the festival.
Meanwhile, this will mark Greensky Blugrass’ first time at the festival when they headline Friday.
The festival will take place at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. 2022 will be the first year back since the COVID-19 pandemic. It was originally postponed to September back in 2021. It will take place from April 28 through May 1.
“We are very excited to welcome music fans back to the campus of Wilkes Community College in the Spring,” MerleFest’s new Festival Director, Wes Whitson said in a statement. “Endless gratitude to all artists, staff, volunteers, vendors, and fans for their patience and support for the 2021 festival. Our team has put together another great lineup for 2022 and we’re looking forward to sharing 4 days of the very best in traditional+ music with fans.”
This year’s lineup includes Rissi Palmer, Andy May, Banknotes, Carol Rifkin, and Charles Welch. Additionally, Donna the Buffalo, Happy Traum, Jack Lawrence, Jeff Little Trio, and Jerry Douglas. Furthermore, Jim Lauderdale, Joe Smothers, Kruger Brothers, and Laura Boosinger will be performing. Meanwhile, Mark Bumgarner, Mitch Greenhill, and Pete & Joan Wernick will be in attendance. In addition, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Presley Barker, Roy Book Binder, Sam Bush, Scythian, T. Michael Coleman, The InterACTive Theatre of Jef, The Local Boys, The Waybacks, Tony Williamson, and Wayne Henderson are scheduled. Merlefest will announce additional artists to the lineup in the coming weeks.
Firstly, there are a variety of ticket options for fans. You can purchase a ticket tier that fits your budget starting at 4-Day Reserved Seating or 4-Day General Admission. You can also purchase 3-Day General Admission or Single Day Tickets.
Be sure to snag parking passes or camping areas. Camping lots range in prices between $125 to $550.
If you want even more music, you can also purchase a Late Night Jam ticket. This special event is held after the daily sets at the festival and features some of the performers. This add on is on-sale now for $45 in addition to fees. Fans must have purchased a Saturday ticket, 3-day general admission, or 4-day general admission to Merlefest. If add-on did not sell out, you can purchase them at the gate for $50.
Merlefest will be requiring guests to submit a negative COVID-19 test within 72-hours of the event or proof of vaccination. This is coming from the artists and high-ranking public health officials. They are requesting that fans wear face masks at any indoor location including the shuttles. Their website noted that they will be adhering to CDC guidelines. Safety protocols will be reviewed weekly and are subject to change.
