Eric Church and Chris Stapleton both scored 5 nominations for the 55th annual CMAs set for Nov. 10 in Nashville. Church will have a chance to defend his crown as reigning Entertainer of the Year, but he’ll have some stiff competition. He’ll have to get past Stapleton. Both are up for the same awards: Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Single of the Year.
Stapleton and Church dominated country music airwaves and streams this year. Stapleton was a critical darling for his LP Starting Over and song of the same name. And fans loved Church’s single “Hell Of A View.” And not to mention his ‘Heart & Soul’ albums. So, it’s fitting that they received the most nominations out of all other country music stars.
This gives Church 30 nominations in his career and 26 for Stapleton. But winning those awards won’t be easy. This year’s competition is stacked with some of the biggest names in the genre.
Gabby Barrett was second with four nominations. She’s up for New Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Song of the Year for “The Good Ones.”
The 55th annual CMAs will air on Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. from Nashville on ABC. Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini will host. For a full list of nominees visit the CMAs website.
