Country star Eric Church is celebrating an important day today: his 13th wedding anniversary.

Eric Church’s Wedding Anniversary

Church and his wife, Katherine Blasingame Church, got married on Jan. 8, 2008 in the North Carolina mountains. They took their vows at Westglow Spa & Resort in Blowing Rock, per Country Fancast.

“Katherine and I stayed there last year, and we just fell in love with the place,” Church told CMT at the time. “We decided that it would be the ideal spot to get married, up in the North Carolina mountains, with just family around us. I can’t imagine a more perfect spot.

Both Church and his now-wife were working in the music industry at the time they met. Katherine is a music publisher. Katherine was trying to help Church out, and that’s how they got to know each other.

“She was in the music business before I was,” he said, according to Taste of Country. “She was trying to hook me up to write with one of her writers that she represented, that was how we met.”

Church added that Katherine’s expertise has been a major asset to him since they got together.

“It’s great now, because being a publisher and being somebody in the industry, I can bounce songs off of her, and she has the knowledge, you know, to be kind of that sounding board of what I should cut and what I shouldn’t cut,” he said. “So, she’s one of those in the inner circle that I run a lot of stuff by.”

The Family Business

The couple have two sons, Boone McCoy Church and Tennessee Hawkins Church. The kids take part in Church’s tours, climbing on the tour bus and watching his performances. Church said it makes him a little nervous sometimes, but their presence at his shows really fills out the experience for him.

“[Boone’s] favorite thing in the whole world is to get on the tour bus, which is scary for a guy who does that for a living,” Church told ABC. “He likes to run around the arena. To be able to have the family out there, it also adds to the professional side. Just helps me feel like when I walk on that stage, I’m not missing another aspect of my life.”

Maybe today Church will be singing “You Make It Look So Easy,” a song he wrote for Katherine. Or “Like Jesus Does,” a song Katherine found and Church cut. Either way, one thing’s for sure: at least he won’t be on the road and miss out on the big day.
