If you even consider yourself an Eric Church, George Strait, or country fan at all, you should know this hilarious story.

Cowboy Rides Away Tour

Throughout George Strait’s 2014 Cowboy Rides Away Tour, he was graced with guest performances by a number of notable artists. Some include Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Little Big Town, and of course, Eric Church.

According to Classic Country Music, Church joined the tour for lucky fans of Omaha, Nebraska, Baton Rouge, and Louisiana. However, at the Cowboy Rides Away Tour’s final performance, many iconic singers joined the legend onstage for one hell of a show.

Eric Church, George Strait, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Ronnie Dunn, Gill, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Lambert, McBride, Lee Ann Womack, and Asleep at the Wheel all came together in Arlington, Texas, about five hours from Strait’s hometown of Poteet.

Together, the young gun and the old dog sang “Cowboys Like Us.” Watch that show-stopping performance here.

Eric Church On the “Coolest” Experience with Strait

Since both are huge names in the music industry, this was not the first time they have collaborated. Eric Church and George Strait are actually good friends.

In a recent interview with The Zane Lowe Show for At Home With Eric Church, the country artist reveals a hilarious story about the 68-year-old and his dance moves.

While playing on the tour and the band was stopped in Omaha, Church, his wife, Katherine, and Strait were hanging out on his tour bus. Nothing odd.

After conversing about other musical icons the artists admired, Church notes that he loves James Brown. Strait is stoked because he also enjoys Brown’s music.

According to Eric Church, George Strait turns on some music by Brown, and the next thing he knew, it was a dance party.

“So George has got his boots off. He’s in gold-toed black socks, like dress socks. And I said, ‘Let’s play some James Brown, come on.’ So he puts on some James Brown. And next thing I know, George Strait is tearing down in the middle of the bus, my wife’s tearing down with him, they’re all dancing!”

Break it Down, George

Eric Church continues, saying the moment was one of the “coolest damn things.”

I can imagine! Just picture a barefoot George Strait breaking it down. I would give big money to see that!

“I’m watching George Strait dance in gold toe socks to James Brown. It’s one of the coolest damn things I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve never seen anything like that. It is cool as shit. So I’m watching this guy do this, goin’ ‘it doesn’t get better than this. This is the best I’ve seen.’ So, he’s tearing it up, man. George Strait and James Brown. Beat that.”

We definitely cannot. But we wish we could.
