Faith Hill had an extra special Christmas 22 years ago.

On December 25th, 1999, the country singing sensation woke up to hear the news that her single Breathe had topped the Country Billboard charts. The song was Hill’s sixth career chart-topper—and the tune reigned for six weeks straight.

Breathe was the title track and first single of Faith Hill’s fourth studio record, which also ruled the charts that year. Not only was the album the singer’s first to reach number one. But it peaked at the top of both the US and Canadian Country Billboards and the US all-genre Billboards.

And the single was what lead the album to its monumental success. After it hit number one on the County Charts on Christmas day, it went on to become the Grammy winner’s first and only Hot Adult Contemporary chart-topper. And it held the spot for 17 weeks. Breathe also hit number 2 on the all-genre Billboard. And by the following year’s end, the single was named as Billboard’s overall best song of 2000.

Faith Hill’s Breathe didn’t stop at the Billboards, either. The single also did well on the awards circuits, too. Breathe won the Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance. And the album brought home Best Country Album of the year.

And thanks to Breathe’s overwhelming success, Faith Hill was named as the top Female Vocalist of the Year for both the ACM and CMA.

So we’d say that each Christmas morning has been extra special at the Hill-McGraw household. Because the holiday went down in history as the day that Faith Hill officially became a country music legend.

Faith Hill Details Differences Between Music Videos and Television

Five-time Grammy-winning artist Faith Hill has officially made the jump from the concert stage to the small screen.

But she’s no stranger to the camera. Thanks to her many music videos, Hill has quite a bit of experience with film crews. So when she signed on to star as a lead in Taylor Sheridan’s newest project 1883, many of us thought acting would be second nature for the songstress.

But according to a recent interview, that wasn’t the case. As Faith Hill said ahead of her acting debut, her music career gave her some experiences as “a performer in general,” but not for acting in general.

“I don’t know that it [music videos] prepped me for anything like this, to be honest,” Hill admitted. “You know, it’s just different. It’s a different medium, but some of it can… I guess coexist. This is entirely different. This is beautiful in the sense that I get to be someone completely different than myself. Which is fun.”

But even if Hill’s music stardom didn’t prepare her for leading a dramatic series, she still has a natural flair for the cameras. Because when 1883 dropped on December 19th, it became the most-watched original series premiere ever.
